These get harder to do every week. After the first 10 or so teams, the league is just a collection of mediocrity and inconsistent teams. It is becoming very clear what teams can contend, and what teams cannot. But putting those teams in order is tricky. How do you compare the 49ers to the Giants? Both are awful, there is no clear line. How do you deal with a team like the Jaguars, who one week will look elite, and the next week look out of place? I give it a try. Here are my week 6 power rankings.

32. Cleveland Browns (0-5)- Last Week- 32

Browns keep losing. No matter how many lousy teams they play, they cannot find a win. One good thing, Duke Johnson continues to be of great use to my fantasy team. Fun fact, the Browns are 1-20 since they traded out of being able to draft Carson Wentz. Carson Wentz meanwhile, is 11-10 and is 4-1 this season. Browns are also 0-5 since passing on DeShaun Watson. Maybe the Browns should stop passing on great QBs in the draft. To be fair, they have a reason to doubt their ability to draft QBs.

31. San Francisco 49ers (0-5)- Last Week- 30(-1)

The 49ers cannot even beat the most mediocre teams. They have had chances in overtime to beat the Cardinals and Colts in consecutive weeks and lost both. Looking at their schedule, they could easily lose their next 4 games as well. The 49ers and Browns are in a marathon to try and get the number one pick, and their QB of choice.

30. New York Giants (0-5)- Last Week- 28(-2)

The third of the winless teams, and easily the best. Unfortunately, the reward for being the best of the absolute worst is nothing. The Giants season can awfully be buried. Not only are they 0-5, but they have to play the Broncos, Seahawks, and Rams in their next 3 games. Even worse, Odell Beckham Jr. broke his ankle this week. The Giants can be as bad as 3-13 this year. It will be interesting to see how they use their high draft pick.

29. Indianapolis Colts (2-3)- Last Week- 31(+2)

The Colts are last in points allowed. They have allowed 40+ points, twice this season. They have one of the worst passing attacks, and one of the worst rushing attacks. Pretty much, they are bad at everything. It is a shame, because Jacoby Brissett may actually be good with a team around him, and a head coach who knows what they are doing. Chuck Pagano is sure to be the first head coach fired.

28.  Chicago Bears (2-3)- Last Week- 29(+1)

Mitch Tribisky looked good for his debut, but his team was no help at all. There were drops, bad blocking, bad running. An inexperienced QB like Tribisky needs all the help he can get. Their defense did look good, but it is against the Vikings without Dalvin Cook, so I am not that impressed.

27. Arizona Cardinals (2-3)- Last Week- 23(-4)

They may have two wins, but their wins are only against two of the four teams ranked below them. Against the three other teams, they have allowed 97 points, though 7 of those points were scoring by the opposing team’s defense and only scored 47 points. There is this notion they are a good defense. But any time they play a good offense, they fall on their face. They played good defense against two of the worst offenses in the league. If a defense is bad against good teams, and only good when they play bad teams, it is a mediocre defense.

26. New York Jets (3-2)- Last Week- 27(+1)

The Jets, 5 weeks in, are tied with the Patriots for second in their division. Bet you saw that coming. Don’t be too amazed though. The teams they beat were the Dolphins, Browns, and Jaguars. I assume they will find their next 5 games, where they play the Patriots, Bills, Falcons, and Bucs, a little harder. Oh, and in the 5 games after that, they play the Panthers, Chiefs, and Broncos. All they have accomplished is a worse draft pick.

25. Tennesee Titans (2-3)- Last Week- 20(-5)

No team has fallen apart faster than the Titans. Three weeks in, they looked ready to emerge. Then they got embarrassed by the Texans and then lost to the Dolphins. The good news, they get to play the Browns and Colts the next two weeks. Bad news, Marcus Mariota wasn’t able to play this week, and hi health is still a question.

24. Cincinnati Bengals (2-3)- Last Week- 25(+1)

Marvin Lewis is barely over .500 in his career. He has never won a playoff game. Why does he still have a job? They are a team that routinely falls apart in playoff games, primetime games, etc. That is a sign of bad coaching. The Bengals have a good defense, but their offense is pretty awful. Andy Dalton’s QBR on the season is below 40.

23. Miami Dolphins (2-2)- Last Week- 22 (-1)

Yes, they won, but the team still isn’t very good. Jay Ajayi continues to struggle, and Jay Cutler looks lost. A week after getting shut out by the Saints, they couldn’t even manage to gain 200 yards as a team against the same Titans defense that gave up 50 points to the Texans.

22. Los Angeles Chargers (1-4)- Last Week- 26(+4)

They finally won and won a close game at that, but it means a little bit less when the team you beat is also winless. They are still the worst team in their division and are still pretty much finished this year.

21. New Orleans Saints (2-2)- Last Week- 21

Not much to say here. They didn’t play. They stayed at 21 because there was nothing to merit moving a team above or below them. This team will always be dangerous in the air. But they do not run enough, don’t play great defense, and I think it is about time to move on from Sean Payton.

20. Buffalo Bills (3-2)- Last Week- 18(-2)

So they can beat the Falcons and Broncos, but lose to the Bengals? I have yet to be able to decide if Tyrod Taylor is an NFL QB. He just hasn’t shown he can be consistent enough yet. However, he occasionally does look like a franchise player. Thier defense is for real, but their offense is a big question mark. They don’t have the weapons in the passing game, and the injury to Charles Clay makes their passing attack even thinner.

19.  Minnesota Vikings (3-2)- Last Week- 16(-3)

Goin up against an already bad team debuting their rookie QB is a lose-lose situation as far as getting credit goes. If you win, then it is the outcome that should have happened, and you get no credit. If you lose, then it is how did you lose to this team? Vikings looked bad. They couldn’t protect the QB, couldn’t run the ball, and played poorly against a bad team. The defense was good, but it is the Bears, with a Rookie QB, so it damn well better look good.

18. Oakland Raiders(2-3)- Last Week- 9(-9)

After starting 2-0, and looking like they turned a corner, they have gone on a two-game losing streak. To be fair, they were without Derek Carr this week. But Derek Carr sitting, isn’t why they gave up 143 rushing yards. Their problems seem to go far beyond an injured QB. Even with Carr, Marshawn Lynch has done nothing since the first week. Amari Cooper, even with Carr, has looked awful and has dropped the ball way too many times.

17. Houston Texans (2-3)- Last Week- 17

Their offense still looked very good against the Chiefs, but that defense floundered. They were able to bottle Kareem Hunt for most of the night, but eventually gave in, and still allowed him to get 100 yards. They were worse against the pass. To make it worse, they lost JJ Watt for the season after he was injured early in the game.

16. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-2)- Last Week- 25(+9)

What are the Jaguars? One week they are blowing out teams like the Texans, Ravens, or Steelers, and the next, they are getting beaten by the Jets and Titans. Here is what we know. They have struggled to stop the run at times, though they did bottle up La’Veon Bell. Their secondary is elite, one of the bests in the game. They have a great young running back and no QB. At this rate, they will go 8-8. If I am them, I am doing whatever I can to move up in the draft and get one of the top three QBs.

15. Dallas Cowboys (2-3)- Last Week- 14(-1)

They have yet to beat a good team. They beat the 0-5 Giants in week 1, and the 2-3 Cardinals who just got blown out in Philly. When they play good teams, their defense has failed to step up every time. They let the Rams go down the field and win the game. They let The Packers go down the field and win the game. They couldn’t get a stop all day in any of their 3 losses. This defense has some real problems, on the ground, and in the air. And by the way, screw Jerry Jones. I hope every Cowboys player takes a knee, and that old bag of dirt and crud is forced to either forfeit or show the fact he has no backbone.

14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-2)- Last Week- 12(-3)

The offense can be explosive, but Jameis Winston just is not consistent enough right now with his accuracy. Between him and Nick Folk, I do not know who missed more in their game against New England. If Winston cannot find some consistency, they will always be a middle of the pack team.

13. Baltimore Ravens (3-2)- Last Week- 11(-3)

They beat a Derek Carr-less Raiders team. I am not that impressed. The losses against Jacksonville and Pittsburgh speak way more to who they are than a game where they beat up on a backup QB.

12. Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2)- Last Week- 4(-8)

Big Ben looks bad, really bad. He threw five interceptions against Jacksonville, and the once powerful AFC North now looks like one of the worst divisions in the league. The Steelers can’t run the ball, they can’t pass. What really amazes me, was their gameplan. The Jaguars have excelled against the pass and struggled against the run. Yet the Steelers came in with the gameplan to pass heavily? With the way Big Ben has struggled? It makes no sense.

11. Carolina Panthers (4-1)- Last Week- 19(+8)

One of the biggest risers, because they finally proved something. In the first two weeks, they squeaked by. Then they were beaten by the Saints, and could barely move the ball. Maybe something clicked in Cam because he has turned this offense around. The won a close game vs a very good team. They will get another chance to make a statement at home vs Philly this week.

10. Seattle Seahawks (3-2)- Last Week- 13(+3)

The Seahawks were impressive, going on the road, against their biggest competition for the NFC West title, and winning. Their defense was stellar, but the o line problem and offense problem persists. The Rams gave up a lot of points to the 49ers and Cowboys, but all the Hawks could muster was 16 points. Still, their defense gives them a chance to win most games.

9. St Louis Rams (3-2)- Last Week- 10(+1)

The Rams should have won this game. They had the game-winning TD. But a late-game blunder by Cooper Kupp, who dropped that game winning TD, lost them the game. I think they are worse than I thought they were last week, but many teams performed worse. They are pretty much even with the Seahawks right now.

8. Washington Football Team (2-2)- Last Week- 15(+7)

Seven spots is a ridiculous move for a week where they didn’t even play, but this is more about me having time to think and deciding they are better than I thought they were last week. It also helps that a lot of teams floundered. Though their front office is still a mess, and their coach was obnoxious for throwing Kirk Cousins under the boss for them failing to score on that final drive against the chiefs.

7. Detroit Lions (3-2)- Last Week- 3(-4)

The Lions had their first off game. Matthew Stafford struggled to get going against the Panthers, and the defense struggled to keep them out of the end zone. Still, one bad loss doesn’t sway me too much. If they can get back up and starting playing great again, we can write this one off as just a bad week. Every team has them.

6. New England Patriots (3-2)- Last Week- 7(+1)

Patriots fans should not feel relieved after the win over Tampa. Yes, they won, and yes the defense played better for most of the game. But another issue became glaringly obvious, the O-line. Tom Brady is getting hit ay too much. At 40 years old, he does not need to be dealing with that. They need to protect their QB before they shorten his career.

5. Green Bay Packers (4-1)- Last Week- 8(+3)

The defense is iffy, but Aaron Rodgers gives them a chance to beat anyone. Rodgers lead his team down the field with a little over a minute left, down 3 points, and scored a TD to win the game. If Aaron James can play like he did in Dallas consistently, this offense will be all the more dangerous. One problem, the defense could not get off the field on 3rd and 4th downs. Allowed too many conversions.

4. Atlanta Falcons (3-1)- Last Week- 6(+2)

The Falcons are not a great team. But they are a good team. They can be inconsistent, which is why I tank them below Philly and Denver, but they have a ton of talent. They managed to move up the rankings this week, despite not playing because two teams ahead of them fell backward.

3. Philadelphia Eagles (4-1)- Last Week 5(+2)

The Eagles are first in their division, are 4-1, and have a top 5 rushing attack, as well as a top 5 rush defense. Moreover, they are 7th in points per game. They have their issues and are by no means a great team, but there are very few great, or even very good teams in the league this year. Tier 1 is the Chiefs, and that is it, and Philly kept up with them. Once you get past them, the Broncos are the only tier two team who have been as consistent as the Eagles. I only give the Broncos the edge because they have experience and a better roster.

2. Denver Broncos (3-1)- Last Week- 2

A fluke loss to the Bills aside, the Broncos have been very good. They dominated Dallas and won two close division games. They play great defense, and good enough offense to be in any game. This team has the pedigree, talent, and the capability to go all the way. The only thing holding them back, the one team better than them is in their own division.

1. Kansas City Chiefs (5-0)- Last Week- 1

The Chiefs kept on rolling against the Texans. They are easily the best team, there is no argument for any team to be ranked above them. They are the only complete team. Even with several major injuries, they still dominated.
